Old Datça

When you arrive in Datça the first thing that will greet you is the windmills of Datça. Then, say hello to Old Datça.

Old Datça, one of the most precious regions of the Datça Peninsula, stands out especially with its texture that has remained unchanged from history to the present day.

Old Datça is the old settlement area of Datça and still a place where Datça's rooted tradesmen live. The new city was established later, but the historical and natural beauties of Old Datça still maintain their importance for the local people and visitors.

The prominent feature of the accommodation places in Old Datça is their distance from vehicle noise. You can start your day with the legendary breakfast of Old Datça. In breakfast, there are two of the region's natural products and Datça's famous three "B"s, honey and almonds. The third "B" is fish. You will also meet it at dinner.

Old Datça, consisting entirely of stone houses, owes its fame to well known poet, Can Yücel spending his last years here. His name has been given to a street here, and a poem has been added next to the street sign.

Well-preserved and mostly restored stone houses are used as residences, pensions, restaurants, and cafes. Old Datça is always quiet and peaceful.

Old Datça also has a rich history dating back 2200 years, adding another layer of depth to its charm and allure.

The artifacts found on the Datça Peninsula date back to around 2000 BC. The earliest known indigenous people were the Carians, and the most prosperous period here was during the Doric period.

Around 1000 BC, the Dorians descended southward from Thrace, arriving in the region via Greece, and established Knidos, the center of the Doric civilization, located 1.5 km northeast of the present-day district center of Datça, in the area known as Burgaz. Later, under the rule of Lydia, Knidos came under Persian rule after Lydia fell to the Persians in 546 BC.

Taşkonak

Hidden amidst the charming streets of Old Datça, the Taşkonak (Stone Mansion) was crafted, drawing inspiration from the enchanting tapestry of history. Stepping through our doors, you'll feel like embarking on a journey through time.

Taşkonak was meticulously designed as a boutique hotel conversion from a traditional house. This structure reflects the unique atmosphere of the old stone building it carries from the past to the present.

The architectural design was crafted by master architect Tülay Özberk, and the project was implemented by Architect Erdem Köseçioğlu in 2018. The landscaping was meticulously created by landscape architect Ulaş Erayan.

Latif Aydın, the godfather of Taşkonak and the pioneer behind its logo design, shaped this extraordinary structure with his own vision and passion. His determination and meticulous work left behind a unique legacy in this enchanting mansion. Additionally, Latif Aydın assumed the management of the hotel until 2022.

With the design insights and financial contributions of Ülkü and Ercan Aydın, the renovated Taşkonak in Old Datça stands as a gift to future generations.

Wandering through the garden adorned with natural stone walls and colorful bougainvilleas, you'll find yourself in a world of elegance and tranquility. Our spacious and comfortable rooms tell the tale of the beauty of time and our unique hospitality.

As the aroma of freshly brewed tea and coffee mingles with the whispers of the wind in our café and restaurant, you can taste a bit of Old Datça's culinary culture. As the day draws to a close, you can relax in the serenity of our landscaped garden, listening to the melody of nature.

The Taşkonak is not just a hotel; it's a gateway to adventure. Explore the pristine beaches and golden sands of Datça or wander through the labyrinthine streets of Old Datça. At every corner, you'll encounter a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.

Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or simply longing for peaceful and enjoyable days amidst nature, our hotel awaits you. Come, experience the magic of the Taşkonak, where history meets nature, and feel once again that every moment is an unforgettable journey.
